Step by step it's falling into place
July 14th, 2011We’re talking with sponsors for some loot, lawyers for some legal stuff and making space for your submissions. With luck and a little hard work, we’ll be opening the floodgates for submissions at scholarship@blindferret.com within the next month or so and be able to offer the Scholarship for the first time for the Spring 2012 semester! Have you gone and looked at the SUBMISSION CRITERIA yet? Well you’d better!
We’re also curious about what you guys think about all this; we know there’s an army of loyal fans out there who want to make this a success as much as we do. We’d love for you to drop us a line to let us know what you have to say; are you or someone you know attending an Arts program next year? Where will you be attending? Do you work for a company that might be able to help with a monetary or product/service donation?
Hurry up and wait!
Now keep in mind before you inundate us with emails and questions and all that good stuff, I want to make it perfectly clear – WE ARE NOT OPEN FOR SUBMISSIONS! Yet.
But that shouldn’t stop you from getting ready. If you are considering a career in the comics and sequential arts field and feel like schooling is essential to achieving that goal, then you should start by going to the Teaching Comics site and looking at some of the schools and what their requirements are. You’ll find that their portfolio requirements for admissions are similar to what we want to see for Scholarship applicants, so you better get your pencils sharp.
And so it begins.
June 14th, 2011We are extraordinarily proud to announce that we have formed a scholarship fund so you can learn to be as great as Sohmer and Lar. Well, not EXACTLY as great, but close.
We’ve begun discussions with various schools that offer Cartooning and Sequential Arts specific curricula to be able to offer some lucky artiste help in getting a proper edumacation. We’re talking with a variety of companies in the hopes of getting all sorts of goodies and benefits for the lucky winner to aid them in long nights of Red Bull fuelled assignment completion.
So what does it take to get in on this sweet deal? Talent! And you’ve got to show us, impress us and win us over. You should jump over to the APPLY area to see exactly what that means.
